We have volunteered to maintain the website of the Toronto Ultimate Club for 2006/07. The site had become cluttered and difficult to maintain over the years. The first phase of the project was to clean up the content and make future modifications and maintenance easier. The second phase, launched in October 2006, eliminated our dependence on an unreliable and costly service provider by integrating various open source projects suitable to the club's needs. Work is ongoing to improve the level of integration between the various components, and add further valuable services for our members, such as handling online payments.
Gaia's Gardens is a landscaping business in Waterloo Region. The site is modest while they are getting started, but it will grow as their business does. The "Daily Tip" is randomly generated from a list of seasonal tips, and the "Past Project" pages are built on content from a database.
Hands On health care is a massage therapy clinic that wanted to supplement their Yellow Pages listing with a small, informational online presence. New and existing clients can quickly access schedules, and learn about each therapist's specialities.
Craig Stephen asked us to create an online portfolio to showcase his wedding and portrait photography services. The budget was kept low by modifying an existing package rather than reinventing it. The result fits the current needs, provides him with a way to maintain his own site content, and will be easily expandable as future needs arise. Craig also does commercial, fashion and travel photography.
We have done several diverse projects in C++ for Bioscrypt Inc.. Here's what Colin Soutar, CTO and EVP of Research & Development, has to say:
"Trawna Publications has completed a number of projects for Bioscrypt. In all cases, projects have been delived on time, on budget, and the engineering work has been of the highest quality. Trawna's pricing flexibility for different options, such as source code or compiled code deliveries, and fixed-price or Time and Materials contracts, makes them a very competitive supplier."
The Fiction Into Film Database is a hobby site with a searchable list of movies, TV shows, etc. that have been based on works of fiction. The list is divided into Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror movies. Each section has its own complete page, linked from the main page. This is for the convenience of visitors, but it also ensures that search engines will index everything that's listed; this technique helps to drive traffic to the site that might not otherwise find it. Whenever the MySQL database is updated, these files are regenerated by invoking the same Perl script that is used to search the database.
